ABOUT ME
Hello and Welcome!
When I was a child, my first career idea was to be a dancer, well actually, it was to be like my older sister, but my first idea of my own was to be a dancer; I was 8 years old. At 12 I thought I wanted to be a photographer--but still dance. Then at 15, I discovered a love for making Halloween costumes and performing in musicals. Dance was a passion that never faded. So when it was time to apply to college, it was a no-brainer what I wanted to study. But as I worked in the costume shop over those four years, I found that I enjoyed sewing, designing, and managing the costumes. I never considered life as a costumer, but maybe my mom did. She told me that when I was a toddler, I would take her fabric scraps and call them "pretties." I don't need to take her scraps anymore, but playing with fabric will always bring me that childhood sense of joy.

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Creating movement and art is an essential part of my being. I live off the rush of seeing a project bloom from an idea to a finished work. It is the journey of creating that I find so intriguing. My work begins with careful consideration for the organization and cohesiveness of the project; examining the script, looking for details, and thinking about color pallets and symbolism.
When working with actors, especially in high school, I always remind them that if the clothes don't fit, it is either my fault or the clothe's fault, but never theirs. I want to encourage positive body image and be respectful of any body dysphoria they may be going through. In doing that, I hope to create a safe space for them to create and be themselves.
